There was a season in my life when I truly believed God had abandoned me.
It felt like He rescued me from one hard situation, only to leave me to struggle through the next on my own. I prayed. I cried. I begged for answers. And for a long time, it felt like He was quiet.
I remember thinking, Why would God save me, just to leave me here in the middle of all this pain?
Those years were filled with struggle, stress, pain and what I believed were unanswered prayers. I felt forgotten. I felt overlooked. And honestly, I felt tired of waiting for things to get better.
But now, looking back, I can see something I couldn’t see back then.
God didn’t abandon me. He was with me every single step of the way, even when I couldn’t feel Him.
What I thought were unanswered prayers were actually God protecting me… preparing me… and bringing me something better when I was truly ready to handle it.
And friend, that truth changed everything for me.
One verse that brings me comfort in seasons like that is:
“Be still, and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
For the longest time, I thought “being still” meant doing nothing. Just sitting in the pain and waiting. But I’ve learned that being still doesn’t mean being passive. It means slowing down enough to hear God’s voice through prayer and through His Word.
It means turning down the noise of fear, overthinking, and worst-case scenarios… and leaning into Christ's truth instead.
Through that hard season, God taught me how to notice Him in the small things.
A moment of peace when everything around me was still chaotic.
A verse that showed up at just the right time.
A conversation that gave me hope when I felt discouraged.
And now, when God seems quiet, I no longer assume He has left me.
I remind myself that He is still working, even when I can’t see what He’s doing yet.
If you’re in a season right now where you feel abandoned by God, I want you to hear this clearly:
Silence does not mean absence. Waiting does not mean forgotten. Struggle does not mean God has turned His back on you. Sometimes, He is doing His deepest work in the quiet.
Here are a few things that have helped me trust God when He feels silent:
1. Stay connected to God through small daily prayer.
It doesn’t have to be long or perfect. Some days my prayer is simply, “Lord, I need You today.” Consistent connection matters more than perfect words.
2. Spend time in scripture, even when you don’t feel like it.
God often speaks through His Word when our emotions are too loud to hear anything else. Even one verse can shift your perspective.
3. Write down the ways God has shown up before.
When doubt creeps in, I remind myself of all the times God carried me through in the past. If He did it before, He can do it again.
4. Give yourself permission to rest in God’s timing.
Not every delay is a denial. Sometimes waiting is part of the preparation for what’s coming next.
Friend, I know how heavy it feels to wonder if God is still there. I’ve lived in that place. But I also know this: God is faithful, even when we don’t understand His process.
If you are walking through a season where everything feels uncertain, please don’t give up. One day, you will look back and see how God was guiding your steps, even when you thought you were walking alone.
You are not forgotten.
You are not abandoned.
And your story is not over yet.
Hold on, sweet friend. God is still writing something beautiful out of this season ... even if you can’t see it yet. 🤍🙏🏽
