Carrying Christmas Into the New Year

Carrying Christmas Into the New Year

Hello Dear Friend,

There’s something bittersweet about the days right after Christmas. The presents have been unwrapped, the meals have been shared, and the house that once felt so full of excitement can feel quiet again. It’s easy to pack up the decorations, toss out the wrapping paper, and move on to the next thing. But every year, I find myself wondering: How can I carry the spirit of Christmas with me into the days and months ahead?

The beauty of Christmas isn’t just the day itself—it’s the gift we’ve been given through Jesus. The love, hope, and joy we celebrate on Christmas morning were never meant to be boxed up with the ornaments. They’re meant to fill our lives every single day.

I’m reminded of John 1:14: “The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” Jesus coming to dwell with us isn’t a one-day event. It’s an everyday promise.

After Christmas, I like to take time to reflect on how I can carry that promise forward. What would it look like to live with the same joy and love that we feel during the holidays? For me, it’s about being intentional with the people I love—continuing to cherish moments together and finding small ways to serve others. It’s also about carving out quiet moments to connect with God, thanking Him for the gift of His Son and asking Him to guide me in the new year ahead.

One thing that helps me is starting each day with gratitude. Even on the hard days, I try to find at least one thing to thank God for—big or small. It’s a simple way to keep my heart centered on His goodness, even when the Christmas lights are put away.

If you’re feeling a little empty now that the celebrations are over, know that it’s okay. Let’s remind ourselves that the joy of Christmas isn’t found in the decorations or the gifts—it’s found in the One who came to be with us, offering grace and love that never fade.

So, as we step into this new season, let’s carry Christmas with us. Let’s hold on to the love, peace, and hope that Jesus brought into the world, and let them guide us each day.

With love and prayers,
Kimberly
